Good stuff

I use this regularly when I am irregular. No doubt it works (the proof is in the pudding!). Also, I have to say that Vitabase is easily my favorite online company I buy from.
Gentle and effective

All my life I have suffered with constipation. Since I do not like to take conventional medicine I have always opted for natural remedies. Cascara Sagrada is a great alternative because it is gentle on your stomach, it does not work like some laxatives where you are afraid to go out. It works with the natural rhythm of your body. I am of Latin descent and we have always used this natural plant for all of our stomach upsets.
Smooth Sailing

I used this product to help with constipation. It worked well, but I still had some cramps. Of course some cramps are to be expected with any laxative, and Cascara Sagrada actually caused relatively few cramps compared to other brands that I have used. It is also nice that it is just one capsule a day. No gross chalk taste.
Quick and Cheap

I have tried other laxatives when I was trying to flush out my stomach. Cascara Sagrada is the best one I have used so far because not only was it cheaper than the rest, but because it was able to work. I suffered from constipation whenever I ate cheese, so I tried some of this and found it relieved my pain fast.
Easy and comfortable

If you are in need of clearing your system, Cascara Sagrada is a nice and easy place to start. Take one pill and you'll be on your way to feeling better, and you won't have to worry about the awful side effects that some other products can cause because this is very gentle.
As a side note, I would recommend that anyone taking this product or any other de-constipating product should drink plenty of water. It will help ease the process.

Very effective natural product. Works quickly without a lot of cramps and other nasty side effects. Helps treat the problem gently but effectively. You can take it over several days if necessary.
Cascara sagrada comes from the bark of the
Rhamnus purshiana tree, the largest species
of buckthorn. It has been used continually for
over 1,000 years by native American Indians and
later immigrant Americans as a natural laxative.
It is still the main ingredient in many
over-the-counter laxatives sold in North America
today.
The active ingredients in cascara sagrada have
been identified by researchers as several
anthraquinone glycosides. Free anthraquinone and
hydroxyanthracene derivative (HAD) are the main
active glycosides responsible for cascara
sagrada’s laxative effects. These substances
cause increased peristalsis (contractions of the
intestinal walls) in the large intestine. HAD
also circulates in the bloodstream, stimulating
a nerve center to trigger a laxative effect.
Our Cascara Sagrada is aged for one year to
optimize the active constituents. The bark is
peeled from the trees of the pacific Northwest.
To work properly, the bark must be carefully
prepared - cured for at least one year or heated
and dried to speed up the aging process. Aging
is essential because the fresh bark is very
irritating to the gastrointestinal system,
causing vomiting and intestinal spasms.
Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, adults take one (1) capsule with eight (8) oz. water at bedtime, or as directed by a health care professional. Use with caution if pregnant or lactating. Store in a cool, dry place and away from direct light.
